For me, woodworking began in high school while taking a woodshop class as an elective. I built a cabinet and intentionally chose to design the front with wood that had a unique knot in it. Unfortunately, I had points deducted because the knot was seen as an “imperfection.”

Fast-forward a few years (okay, more than a few) and that is when my woodworking journey really began. In 2015 my wife and I bought our first house, which included my personal workshop space (aka, a garage). I started by building some shelving, as well as a coffee table. After building the coffee table, I remember thinking that I could improve on the build. At that point, I told my wife that if I could sell that coffee table, I would build us a new one. Within a week, I sold that coffee table and now repeat that same scenario a few times and I think my wife and I are on our tenth one! From there, I continued to build things for around the house to customize it and make it our home. I built floating shelves, a console table, completed a wood wall, etc. Once I ran out of things to build around our home, I decided to create an Instagram account to show others the projects I had completed; in hopes that other people may want some custom furniture as well. Woodworking really became a passion for me around this time. In fact it didn’t feel like wood “work” at all because I genuinely looked forward to dedicating time and effort into each custom project. Some of my favorite things to build are tables, and I also really enjoy working with live-edge wood.

The name MandichMade was established when the first person I built something custom for approached me and said that they wanted something “Mandich (my last name) made.” Overall, I love finding the “imperfections” in wood and finding ways to create something completely unique out of them (tell that to my high-school teacher). My goal is to bring high-end, custom pieces into homes at an affordable price. MandichMade has developed into something very personal for me and I absolutely love seeing others enjoying the pieces that I created for them.
